SSI

SSI is Supplemental Security Income. However, this is misleading as it is intended to be your only source of income. If you work, the amount of SSI will go down until it reaches $0. Once that happens, you would lose all of your benefits. This actually discourages people trying to find a job as they will lose their assurance of an income if they lost their job.

SSI is not really a significant amount, and while it helps, it makes it hard to live off of. I only get $841.00 which added to my DPA, and SNAP – I still get less than $1,000.00. Poverty is at $1,300.00. It doesn’t make things easy, and I still qualify for all of the assistance benefits I could find. I make ends meet, and make due with what I have.
